emotional products...

i was actually just gonna post the pics 'just because'... but have been thinking about this for some time... the watches that we love, the watches that we buy, we do so because they call out to something in us... for some pieces, we do so because we believe they can be so much more than technique, gears and micro engineering and perhaps even have a lil bit of soul...

so just sharing pics i took tonite of two watches that i acquired this year... the head (and my personal CFO) said 'hell no' to buying them and the heart? the heart said 'what are you bloody waiting for?' :)

so to my readers out there, what were your emotional purchases this year or in recent times... it can be of anything i suppose, leica equipment u shouldn't have bought, a set of wheels that totally didn't make sense and seared a hole in your pocket but has never failed to put a smile on your face :)

these are two of mine...

cheers, raph

Maybe you should have a post about those you regret selling (if any) and why you regret selling. Might be interesting to see the reasons why.

Have a nice weekend,

Hi Ralph, would v much appreciate your advice if you can spare ur 2 cents.. =)
Was thinking of getting the Pam 00321 - or the IWC portuguese 7 days... both the above brand new..
however, am now complicated by the fact that im just like u a fan of AP royal oak. saw ur post tt u cud get one with the budget of 10-20k ? im thinking of ard 15k max.. can i get a decent RO at that price - of coz 2nd hand as first hand is no where near that price??
what model wud u recommend? and if u cud direct me the "path"of getting one?

Thanks!!

Hi Marcus

Sorry for not coming back sooner.. been tied up. i'll throw in my 2 cents :)
i think both the pam and the iwc are nice and very different actually. ones a nice sporty watch and another a dressy watch, both having similar larger case sizes...

if you're a fan of the AP royal oak though i would say go for the RO (at least that is what i would do). Pre-owned ROO in Singapore for the base models is below S$20k. Royal Oak 15300 pre-owned around S$11-12k thereabouts so definitely in your budget..

in terms of models, it will be up to preference. i have seen some rubberclads go for 16-18k depending on condition so between the dressier RO 15300 or the ROO Rubber which would you prefer? noting the 5-7k difference in price... personally i would take a RO 15300 if I don't think i am buying many more RO/ROOs as its more versatile and it has classic good looks but which would u prefer? :)

email me at raphael too @ gmail . com (remove spaces) and i can recommend some folks to you.

cheers

sorry to add to that, i have seen themes models in 17-18k range so for me, the black themes is one of the top sports kicka$$ watches below S$20k :) but have to stretch the 15k budget a little...
