Other than the only watch auction that will be happening on 23 Sep 2011 (full catalogue here), Antiquorum Auctioneers are looking to have a couple others in the last months of the year... rolex and tudor vintage... rugged robust and been through a number of years... still going strong of course :)
Rolex... Bond's choice and that's all Fleming wrote... no amount of marketing $$$ will change that for me
the monte carlo... the new ones are fantastic and great bang for buck... and the old ones are just sweeeeeet...

and to end off, the watch with probably the most harrowing tales to tell... IWC B-Uhr Luftwaffe... a flieger watch from World War II... 55mm and with a lot of tail... in the war, the bombadiers and pilots used to wear them strapped over their thick pilot suits or on their thighs for bomb runs...(watch 'memphis belle' if u dun know what i'm on about... oh danny boy...)
the war interestingly contributed to the popularity of the wristwatch which till then had been seen as slightly effeminate... that was of course put to rest when war heroes (on both sides) were seen wearing wristwatches... an interesting piece of the wristwatch's history...

That Rolex Daytona movement is very nice! Great shots of some amazing watches. It'll be interesting to see the final prices.
the old Rolex Daytonas are just great :) thanks Stefano. agreed that it'll be interesting to see where these end at. the last auction most of the uber pricey pieces ended either within the range or on the top end of the range i believe.
Hi Raph, i have some question for you. I like watches very much, and especially IWC Portuguese range, notably the Perpetual Calendar. But i have also noted the very high prices of it in singapore. Could you recommend one in IWC range which has a quite similar look and feel to it? i can only extend my credit range to 10k, and thats even abit too much, but i wouldn't mind if i can land such an exquisite watch on my wrist. Do note that i do not own any fine timepiece, so, you're talking to a greenhorn. Much help appreciated!
Hi there, i used to really like the iwc port perp and actually in the perp cal range its one of the better priced pieces and a good deal can be had pre-owned.
however it doesn't hit the 10k mark. at that level if you are going for the size of the port, then the 7 days port would do nicely. if you prefer more stuff on the dial than a chrono could be an alternative and there are a range from iwc themselves or the other makers for 10k and below. do a bit of research on the web and go down to the iwc boutiques to check out the pieces. when you buy though get it from the place with better discounts as the boutiques aren't good with discounts but have decent range to view. hope this helps. cheers
